There may not be a need for the Fire Instructor position if the primary responsibility of the Fire Instructor is to connect citizens with social service supports. The CFD should partner with the newly created Office of Community Resilience, which is housed within the Department of Youth & Family Development, to fully support the CFD Connects initiative. The Office of Community Resilience is working to create opportunities for social workers to accompany CPD officers on certain types of calls to offer social service support to constituents. The Office of Community Resilience could collaborate with CFD just as they do with CPD to meet the need of providing social service to citizens.
